Reid Brothers Blitz Mt. Isobel Challange Duathlon in Hanmer

Andy Reid Finished 2nd in the Mt. Isobel Challenge in Hanmer, behind his brother Robin.

Andy used this race to try out his new Santa Cruz Stigmata. We all know the Reid brothers are fast on bikes (road and MTB), but I didn't know Andy could run, when I quizzed him about running, he said "I'm definitely not a runner, Mt Isobel is like a fast walk up a hill, if you asked me to run 10km on the flat I'd be in trouble.".

Any how, good work.

OK no smart remarks about how my Stigmata is going, it's built up and on display at Village Cycles......of course I'm going to ride it down Turners, what's the rush?

Mojo SL's for your viewing pleasure

Four Mojo SL's arrived in New Zealand then got built up and their ecstatic customers took them away before anyone could even get a look.

They are in fact very nice, I'm still waiting for mine.

Santa Cruz price's going up and some changes to take note

Just thought I warn everyone that Santa Cruz pricing will be going up. Santa Cruz will officially raise their prices on 1st June, so anything coming out of the Santa Cruz factory from then will now be at a higher price.

Anything that is currently in New Zealand or is ordered before 1st June (and is in stock at Santa Cruz) will be at the current pricing. This unfortunately excludes the new Blur LT and V10's.

There are few changes to note;

New Colours

Santa Cruz will be adding red and lime green for all models. They will also be clear coating all the frames after the decal has been applied.
Gangreen and orange will no longer be available after current stock has run out.
There will be a new ano bronze available for the V10's towards the end of the year and ano blue will be dropped from the current V10 color options.
Anodised Chameleon's have been discontinued.

Complete bikes (I think is is for NZ customers too, not just North America)

All complete bikes will start shipping pre-assembled by mid June. The assembly will be done in house by SCB. This includes all bike packages and a la carte bikes.
They will no longer be offering build kits separate like they have done in the past. All kit orders must be accompanied by a frame and fork and will ship pre-assembled.

Shocks and forks

Santa Cruz will be adding the Rock Shox Vivid and Monarch to the shock option line up. Both will start to become available in late June. Rock Shox forks will still be available for purchase with frames. Fox forks will only be available on complete, pre-assembled bikes.

Steve Peat Wins Lisbon DH 7th Year in a row!

The ninth annual Lisbon Downtown race was held today with racers taking to the infamous cobblestone stairways winding down the old city from the Castelo de Sao Jorge. As cats scrambled off the race rack citizens watched from their laundry filled balconies to see Steve Peat, indisputably the King of Lisbon, take his 7th consecutive win with teammate Greg Minnaar in second, just .46 behind him.

Hogging the Print Media

Santa Cruz riders dominate the current print media's cover shot's. First up was Rob Smail on the cover of NZMTBer (we'll just ignore the fact that he's not riding either his Nomad or Bullit).

Next up Laurence Mote appears on the cover of the Ground Effect catalogue (and inside it too).

Mark Weir (and so he should) is on the cover of the latest Spoke Magazine.

Laurence Mote also is also the writer of the article about touring with Mr. Weir. I will admit I had a great time when the guys were in Nelson. Ignore the bit about the charred BBQ, Laurence is just a bit fussy with his food.

I think I've only just stopped raving about the Mark Weir visit....or maybe not.
